A gap since the last post. There have been difficulties in making a time to meet Ben. He has been appointed as CEO of Artes Mundi as as a result has moved to Wales and been incredibly busy. So, after much discussion, Ben and I have come to the conclusion that his new location and new position will leave him little time for other commitments and so it is best to find someone else to take on the role of mentor from now on. We have agreed however that should an appropriate project arise, working together for a short time would be possible and for me, this is something I would very much like to do since it would be a conclusion to the threads of discussion and enquiry we had started.

Ben has contacted some people he felt would possibly have an interest in my practice – I, too, have been asking people I respect for suggestions too. As a result, I have a studio visit from Kathy Noble planned. Kathy is the interdisciplinary curator at Tate, previously the assistant live art curator in the same institution. I have also been emailing with Naomi Siderfin of Beaconsfield and am hoping to arrange to meet with her as soon as possible.

In the meantime I am continuing to work on several projects and developing ideas for work that relates to collections and value. Some of my work will be shown in the Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery from January 8th in a show called Visual Dialogues. The show will include works made by young people from Norfolk from the ages of 17yrs to 19yrs old that explore and respond to the works in the Castle collections, particularly the Norwich School paintings and a Tate loan to the Castle - Ged Quinn’s Cross in the Wilderness. The images show my contribution to the show – a series of gilded postcards entitled Gilding the Lily.
